WARWICKSHIRE'S BEST VILLAGE COMPETITION 2008
Silver Awards were presented to Avon Dassett, Barton-on-the-Heath, Blackwell, Chesterton, Easenhall, Fillongley, Harbury, Middleton, Newbold-on-Stour, Princethorpe, Radway, Shotteswell, Shrewley, Stretton-on-Dunsmore and Wixford.
Gold Awards were presented to Church Lawford, Claverdon, Curdworth, Gaydon, Shustoke, Tredington and Welford-on-Avon.
Size and Category Winners
As there were several entries for each size of village in all eight categories, the judges were able to compare like for like within the eight categories and award prizes for the best villages according to their size, as well as category winners. These were as follows:

Winners Overall
In joint third place, winning £250 each, were BARFORD and WOLSTON.
In second place, with a prize of £350 was WOLVEY.
And Warwickshire’s Best Village 2008 was UFTON, who won a prize of £500.

Overall Winner AUSTREY
Austrey went on to represent the County in the regional level of the national competition organised by Calor. It has recently been announced that they won the Communication category in this competition. A cheque for £500 will be presented to their representative at the awards ceremony to be held at the village hall in Newton Regis on Tuesday 8th September 2009.
