Have you heard about the Asda Foundation? They give out small amounts of funding up to £15,000. Business in the Community (BITC) works with Asda nationally and they have asked BITC to highlight this fund. There has been very little funding given to organisations in Coventry & Warwickshire, so it’s about time they did! If you do apply please contact Mary Judge (details below) as BITC wants to let Asda HQ know that the application has come about through advertising to community groups. If the store is not aware of the process please let Mary know so she can talk to Asda HQ on your behalf.
Criteria/Guidelines:
• Will make a real significant long term difference to the local community
• Accessible to the Local Community
• Benefit Children, Health, Education and Youth Provision
• The donation cannot be used to fund salaries, admin costs etc
• All projects must be validated by the GSM or Store Adopter
• If the donation required is over £15,000 you may be asked to present your application to the trustee's
The criteria that the project must be accessible to the local community means that the whole community must be able to benefit i.e. it cannot just be for a school but a provision for a school that the community has access to.
The process is that the applicant must go to a nearby Asda store and get the “Community Colleague” i.e. the store community champion to support their application. See the link below for the projects that have been funded in the past:
