Sports Grant - Rugby Borough Council - deadline 18th October 2010

Rugby Borough Council's Sport Grant is a funding stream aimed at helping community clubs and organisations to develop and to sustain the services and activities they offer by providing a development grant.

Grants are offered for sports activities that take place within Rugby Borough to help develop the clubs and organisations and to increase participation.


Energy auditing for old and listed buildings, Nuneaton - 23rd September

This course will show you how to carry out a basic audit of a community building, focussing specifically on what can be done in old or listed buildings. As well as monitoring consumption, this includes identifying appropriate energy efficiency measures, and the potential savings these can make.

New Open Gardens national directory launched

A Leicestershire couple who have run Open Gardens in their village for a number of years have developed an innovative solution to finding out the dates of Open Gardens events - a national Open Gardens website specifically aimed at town and village Open Gardens.
 
Frustrated by the difficulty of finding Open Gardens event dates and promoting their own village event, the couple thought it seemed the obvious solution and were surprised that it had not already been done.
 


Philip Lawrence Awards for young people who are taking a lead and making a difference - closing date 15th September

Nominations for the 2010 Philip Lawrence Awards are now open. We need to hear from you who deserves to be a star of the 2010 awards and be in with the chance of winning £1000 towards their project.


The Links Foundation - deadline 1st October 2010

The Links Foundation provides funding to a wide range of community-based organisations across Britain to help provide facilities and services to improve the conditions of life.

Applications are accepted from community organisations involved in projects which:
- improve education;
- tackle significant disadvantages;
- assist those in poverty, need or distress; and
- provide for their leisure activities.


CSW Sport Physical Activity Small Grants Scheme - deadline 17th September 2010

Funding of £200-£2000 is available for a variety of projects that contribute towards getting people more physically active in the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire areas.

There are two application rounds:
- first deadline date is 17th September 2010
- second deadline date is 19th November 2010

“DO or DIE” Challenge for Rural Communities

The Rural Coalition, under the chairmanship of Lord Matthew Taylor, has launched its report: The Rural Challenge – Achieving sustainable rural communities for the 21st Century.  This report follows on from their last publication, The future is rural too, published in September 2009. 


Arts on our Doorstep - funding art in rural communities

Arts on our Doorstep is a Central Warwickshire Villages LEADER funded project that will bring arts to the heart of rural communities in Warwick District and Rugby Borough, supporting projects taking place from 2010 to 2013.

The scheme will provide practical advice and support alongside resources up to the value of £5,000 to help local groups and individuals to organise exciting and innovative small arts projects within their community.


The Prince's Countryside Fund

The Prince's Countryside Fund - described as the Prince of Wales' brainchild - is designed to give a much-needed boost to the UK's most vulnerable farmers and small rural communities.

The Fund will provide funding towards projects that clearly contribute towards one or more of its charitable objects and fit within the focus areas set out below:
- projects to improve the sustainability of British farming in areas of deprivation
- projects to improve the sustainability of rural communities
- projects to reconnect people with the countryside
