A new toolkit published by the National Association of Local Councils (NALC) recommends Community Led Planning (CLP) as a means by which newly created local councils can engage with people in their area to identify and prioritise future work.

Charity Bank preferential loan rate - deadline 31 December 2010
Charity Bank is introducing a preferential loan rate for new loans drawn before 31 December 2010.

CSW Sport Physical Activity Small Grants Scheme- deadline 17th September
£200-£2000 is available for a variety of projects that contribute towards getting people more physically active in the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire areas. There are two windows for the scheme and the first one closes on 17th September.

DEFRA consultation on guidance to water companies re concessionary surface water drainage charges
Defra has launched a consultation on new guidance to water companies on concessionary surface water drainage charges.
As a result of the switch by some water companies from the rateable value to a site area method of calculating surface water drainage charges some community groups experienced unaffordable water charges. As part of the Flood and Water Management Act this new guidance will protect such community groups.
Bridging the Gap – get your application submitted before September deadline
The Coalfields Regeneration Trust is fast approaching the end of its Bridging the Gap funding programme. It is important that groups do not miss out on this opportunity to apply for grant funding. The final deadline for the submission of applications will be late September / early October. The chances of an application being successful at the moment is high, though obviously we can never guarantee approval as that is down to the Trustees ultimately.
Community Wildlife - BIG Lottery Fund
Community Wildlife will fund projects that bring local people together to discover, enjoy or protect the wildlife in their local area. Free independent living service for over 50s
PHILLIS is a free County Council service for anyone over 50 in Warwickshire.
It helps individuals find out about and get services that could help them to live independently in their own home. Older People in Action (OPA) has arranged for Tracy Brown, Service Broker for Warwick District, to hold a drop in information session at a number of different venues across Leamington to offer advice on the PHILLIS service.
The PHILLIS service is free of charge, but charges will be incurred for services provided by any other organisations that PHILLIS signposts to.
Launch of North Arden Heritage Trail
The NAHT Official launch took place last week. The launch was about celebrating everybody's contribution to what has been a highly successful project and to celebrate ' The North Arden Heritage Trail's major new walking route in itself and parish loops taking in the areas local heritage.
