If you have an interest in rural issues and a nose for a good story then you could help us develop a website. It would be useful if you had some knowledge of website development but the enthusiasm to write a good story is more important than technical ability.

Big Lottery Fund Update re Community Spaces - deadline 28th January 2011.

Grant awards ranging between £10,000 and £49,999 are available from Community Spaces to transform or create green open spaces. The programme is currently encouraging more applications from the West Midlands region and would like groups to have the opportunity to develop a good quality application before the January deadline.

Free Legal Advice for Over 50's in Atherstone

A free Legal Advice service is now available at Age Concern’s Local Centre, Partnership Centre, Coleshill Road, Atherstone, between 10am and 12noon on the third Wednesday of each month commencing 21st July 2010. Please telephone 01827 717172 to arrange an appointment.

Experienced lawyers from Moore & Tibbits will offer:
• A free initial consultation of 20 minutes
• Quality, sympathetic, confidential advice on any legal matter

Relatives or Carers advising or supporting over 50’s are welcome to use this service.


Garden Buddy Project in North Warwickshire

Free technical support for community energy projects

Green Communities is pleased to announce that the Expert Support Panel service is now taking in new applications. This free support service is offered to members who want technical support for their energy projects.


Royal Leamington Spa Town Council Community Grant Fund - deadline 18th October 2010

The Community Grant Fund has been established as a means of helping Community and Voluntary organisations with projects that are of benefit to the wider community. It will contribute to the Town Council’s objective of involving community representatives in identifying local needs and facilitate collaboration between the Council and partner organisations.


Comic Relief UK Grant Programme - deadline 17th September 2010

Comic Relief's UK Grant Programme aims to bring about positive and lasting change in the lives of poor and disadvantaged people in the UK by investing in work that addresses people's immediate needs, as well as tackling the root causes of poverty and injustice.

Registered charities and voluntary organisations (including social enterprises and community interest companies) in the UK are invited to apply for grants of between £25,000 and £40,000. 


Big Society Bank to give out first funds by April 2011

The coalition government is aiming to have the Big Society Bank open for business by April next year, according to the Cabinet Office Structural Reform Plan published this week.

The plan covers six departmental priorities, the last of which is to “support the building of the Big Society”. It lists a number of actions that will facilitate this, with start and end dates for each.


Calculate your carbon footprint

The community carbon footprint calculator allows groups of individuals to measure their carbon emissions and get recommendations for energy saving actions. Local businesses and community buildings  can also calculate their carbon footprint and over time you will see how much carbon you are all saving.
