Each year the Council dedicates funding to replace street trees. The Council has arranged for over 100 trees to be replaced over the last five years which helps to maintain it as a green and pleasant place.
Many of the older trees are, however, nearing the end of their natural lives and therefore a programme is being prepared to replace those that are diseased or dying. Trees are also planted in new locations where this is felt appropriate and where residents’ support is forthcoming. In some areas of the Town residents have even offered to water the newly planted saplings until they have become established!
If you are aware of any locations near you where a new tree would be welcome let us know. Our budget is limited but we will consider all suggestions.
