Free Finance and Accountancy Workshops for Voluntary & Community Organisations - October 2010

The Community Accountancy Service is pleased to announce that it is holding a series of workshops offering free financial training to voluntary and community organisations/groups in the North Warwickshire area. These workshops are aimed at those who have responsibility for finance and accounts within groups as well as Trustees/Committee members. 

Workshops being held are:


Warwick District Council's Small Grants Scheme - deadline 14th October 2010

If your organisation operates in Warwick District, you may be interested in the launch of Warwick District Council's Small Grants Scheme, which offers up to £2k for a one-off project to benefit the community.

'Searching for Funders' drop in session 16th Sept 2010

Group Drop-In on Thursday September 16th 2010, from 10:00am to 6:00pm, at WCAVA, 4&6 Clemens Street, Leamington Spa, CV31 2DL.  The topic is 'Searching for Funders'. 


Cash to revitalise Shipston-upon-Stour - deadline 18th October 2010

Ideas aimed at rejuvenating Shipston on Stour’s town centre could be in line for a cash windfall. Warwickshire County Council is again inviting organisations who have a project idea which could help improve the vitality of the town centre to apply to a fund worth £24,000.

The funding has been made available as a result of the development at Tilemans Lane in Shipston on Stour, and is ring-fenced for town centre initiatives. A funding round earlier in the year gave approval to four local projects but there is still funding available for new projects to apply for support.

Leafy Leamington

Each year the Council dedicates funding to replace street trees. The Council has arranged for over 100 trees to be replaced over the last five years which helps to maintain it as a green and pleasant place.


2010 Countryside Alliance Awards

The Awards are the Countryside Alliance's annual celebration of rural skills, produce, heritage and enterprise through the people who work so hard to make our countryside flourish. We have enough awards for produce, but what about the characters behind the business?


B&Q donation scheme

B&Q operates a waste donation scheme through all stores. This scheme allows donation of waste materials, for example slightly damaged tins of paint, off-cuts of timber, odd rolls of wallpaper and end of range materials, to community groups, charities and schools.

The Equality Act 2010 replaces the existing antidiscrimination laws with a single Act. It simplifies the law, removing inconsistencies and making it easier for people to understand and comply with it. It also strengthens the law in important ways to help tackle discrimination and inequality.


Gardening Against The Odds Awards - deadline 17th september.

Information from The Conservation Foundation - Announcing the Gardening Against The Odds Awards dedicated to the memory of the writer  Elspeth Thompson, who died earlier this year. Elspeth was one of our London’s Green Corners supporters and judges and we are delighted to be running this new award in association with The Sunday Telegraph and Green & Black’s Organic.
