WRCC are very pleased to have won an award for their latest annual report, which was presented as part of the CWIC Quality & Governance Celebration Event at CentralVision on Wednesday 21st April.
Although up against some stiff competition it was felt that the report avoided the pitfall of merely being publicity material, instead providing information to partners, funders and users alike.
We often struggled with what should or should not be included and our latest report is very different from previous years. We recognised that people want to know what we do and, possibly more importantly, why we do it. What are the results? Why did we spend our time and money the way we did? What difference did it make? We have tried to connect the everyday activities and accomplishments of the organization to our mission statement rather than assuming readers will automatically understand how our activities help us achieve our mission.
Many who pick up an annual report won’t actually read it so we chose big bright photographs to draw people in to the words. We included a few paragraphs that explain in plain English what the financial graphs say, detailing where our money comes from and how we spend it, together with some general details regarding our fundraising strategy.
By way of thanks funders and sponsors are recognized at the end of the report, together with staff and Trustees.
